Ground/ Figure Relation
This image is an example of ground/ figure relation. When you first glance at the image you see repetition of men’s legs. The men’s legs are the darker/shaded region and represent the figure, which is why we see them first. When you look at the image again you see repetition of women’s legs in the ground, the region that is not shaded.
That is a great example of figure and ground. It seems like the white lines in the mens shoes and the black lines in the women's shoes are what makes this so appealing. The black and white contrast is strong and the legs are sending my eyes in both directions. Nice choice!
ReplyDeleteI love this one. Your eye can't help switching back and forth between the legs, and it's even cooler that one set is women's legs and one set is men's. It's interesting that the relationship between the two is so focused in the center, there's a lot of white/black space where nothing is happening, where you can rest your eyes.
ReplyDeleteVery cool design. It makes me dizzy, which I love! It is almost like you could keep looking up and down on the page because the way your eyes are made to look.
